A ‘Bug Bounty’ program run by the US Department of Defense announced a ‘Hack the Pentagon’ initiative. Only thoroughly investigated candidates complete with background tests and other preliminaries would be selected to participate in this contest. “Hackers will be allowed to target a predetermined system that is not part of its critical operations”.

The Department of Defense has not yet confirmed what bounty would be provided to hackers upon a successful penetration of its network or web pages.

According to Chris Lynch, Director of Defense Digital Service that’s actually behind the “Hack the Pentagon” initiative, “bringing in the best talent, technology and processes from the private sector not only helps us deliver comprehensive, more secure solutions to the DoD, but it also helps us better protect our country.”
